How to set up parental controls and how do I access it on my Linksys Router?

To setup parental Control on Linksys Router.

Step 1 – Open any browser on your device which is connected to your Linksys router network. (You can use any browser such as Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer)

Step 2 – Type www.Linksyssmartwifi.com or type the IP address into the web address bar and press enter.

Step 3 – A login prompt displays to enter Router login credentials.

Step 4 – Enter Username and password. In most cases, the default username and password both will be ‘admin’ in lower case.

Step 5 – Now you are on the Router web home page, please click on Parental Controls

Step 6Set a password on Parental controls: – After entering the Parental controls screen, a new screen will pop up to set a password for Parental control. Enter the password and verify it (password should be between 4 to 32 characters and use the combination of alphabet and numeric for strong password).

Step 7 – Set a security question and answer. In the future, you can recover your password by providing the correct answer to this security question.

Step 8 – Click on Ok to save the settings and the main screen of Parental control appears on your screen.

The Parental control setup is complete.

Under Parental controls, you can perform different tasks such as select or remove parental controls on computers, password change or block website content for a specific time.

To access Parental controls after the first time setup.

  • Open the router’s homepage on your computer.
  • Under Parental controls, click on change.
  • A password screen opens.
  • Enter the Parental controls password click on OK to continue.
  • The main screen of Parental control appears.
  • You can manage the features of your Parental control from this page.

NOTE: If you forgot the password, click on I forgot my password and give the answer to the security question to recover the password.

How to block or access the website using Parental controls on the Linksys router?

Step 6Choose Device name – On the main screen of Parental controls, choose

device name on which you want to block internet access.

Step 7Choose specific computer – Under Block Internet Access, choose from provided options to block access during a specific time. You can set the schedule as needed.

Step 8Block websites – Click on Edit on Block Specific sites and block these screens open on your screen. Enter the name of websites address on blank fields that you want to block.

Step 9 – Click on Save the list of blocked websites address.

Step 10 – You will automatically redirect to Parental controls the main screen, you need to click on Finish to save the changes. Your task is complete. You can set parental controls for each computer by using the above steps.
